Veteran's Day

As many of you know, I'm a huge supporter of our veteran's and active military members.  These men and women are the reason we get to live in a free nation, but more importantly I have multiple veterans in my family.  I have learned the value of our military from my parents, but especially Mama Jill.  I'll never forget being on fall break during college and going to Moe's with her for lunch.  As we were moving up the line to pay, she noticed a man in uniform behind us and decided to pick up his lunch as well to thank him for his service.  He was so grateful to both of us and I thought how much a simple thank you and picking up lunch meant to him.  It completely moved me and is why I try to thank people in uniform for their service and try to do nice things to show them my thanks.  In my sorority we wrote postcards and sent care-packages overseas to those serving. Whether it's time, money, donations or care-packages every little bit counts.  Even saying a simple thank you to a veteran or active military member means so much to them.

This Veteran's Day, Great Clips will have their 3rd annual, "Thank a Veteran Free Haircut Card." Every customer that has their hair cut on November 11th will receive a free haircut card to give to any current or past military member.  This is a wonderful way to celebrate military members and do something nice for them.

How will you be celebrating Veteran's Day?  If you have Veteran's in your life, do you plan on doing something special for them?  I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

  1. I try to give every VET I see a high five or hug if they let me. My dad is a retired Army officer so military pride is something I grew up with and am proud of any military service member.
