Sweet Weekend

Happy Weekend!  This was a whirlwind week with snow and lots of work to close out the end of our fiscal year at work.  Here is The 1975, "Chocolate" this song makes me smile and want to dance around.  I have a weekend filled with friends and cocktails, I hope everyone has a relaxing weekend!

Grammy's Best Dressed Picks

Miranda Lambert is looking so ahmazing, her bod is the best it's ever looked!  Red is definitely her color and this cut shows off her curves!

Although I was traumatized by her dancing, especially to Imagine Dragons and Kendrick Lamar (I mean what was that?!?).  Her dress was on point, love the shimmery metallic look and the dress was even more gorg on TV.

John Legend's lady also brought the metallic, this dress is stunning and hugs her figure perfectly....stunning!

This dress scared me, I didn't understand the zebra print and then the two Lions....can you please stick with one animal?  Sorry this was not a fave!

Inspiration

I love classic looks and silhouettes.  Loving all these looks above, lady-like florals are such a trend for spring, this floral dress from Anthropologie is the perfect way to introduce them to your wardrobe.  Yellow and corals along with navy are hot colors for spring, I know I have a focus on navy at the moment in my shopping adventures.  Cheers to a happy week and Monday.

Sweet Weekend

I'm headed to Greensboro to take care of my nephew M3 all weekend.  We are going to spend time with my grandparents, aunts and cousins, since it is one of my aunt's birthdays and two of my cousins.  Should be a fun, busy weekend, spent inside since it's going to be so cold!  I love Eric Church, his voice, his songwriting skills, his live performances and the fact that he is a North Carolina boy.  I cannot wait for his new album to drop in a few weeks in February.  Here is Eric Church's, "Give Me Back My Hometown."

Dreams

Last week's announcement that Christie McVie re-joined Fleetwood Mac made my entire month!  Papa Murray made the statement over the summer that she was re-joining the band and that when it happened we were going to be there.....that man can either see into the future or has the inside scoop!  Fleetwood Mac is my favorite band, and my dad and I share such a love for all their music!  Cannot wait until they announce tour dates......don't worry even though Papa Murray is in Africa, he knows all about the news, half way around the world and pumped!

A Special Celebration

Sweet Photobomb!

Sweetums above turned 21 last weekend.  So of course we rallied the troops and headed down to Wilmington to celebrate with her.  As you know by now, I have a very large family and we all love each other, this is part of our tight little group of cousins.  I headed down Friday to see my bestie Kippy and to wish her a very happy birthday before meeting my cousin Lindsay for a late dinner.  We had the most relaxing, gorgeous weekend with manicures and a fabulous walk on the beach.  Saturday night we met more of our cousins at Blue Water for a birthday dinner for Kellie.  Kellie lives in a house with three other roomates and they through quite the partay.....hey re-living the good ole days of college.  It was the perfect weekend to catch up with family and celebrate one of the bebe's birthdays, our Neller is now legal, woop woop!  I hope everyone has a great week!

My new Love....

I have quite the love affair with accessories, specifically shoes and bags.  I treated myself to this new beaut after Christmas....her name is "Bay Bleu" and I love her!  The cross body strap is great when hauling a bunch of stuff and the handles are great for everyday.  The color is fabulous, especially since I'm crushing on all things navy and nautical inspired.  Tory Burch, one of my fave designers has plenty of fabulous nautical inspired goodies!

White Chicken Chili

One of my coworkers made this delicious recipe for a work party.  It is super easy and sooo yummy!  I bought my first crock pot last Saturday and could not be prouder to finally own one (so domesticated) or happier with it!  I started the chili Sunday morning, left it while I went to brunch, pure barre and ran errands, by dinnertime it was ready!  I hope you enjoy!

Ingredients:
-2 boneless skinless chicken breast (you can use more, but this was plenty)
-2 (15oz) cans great northern beans
-1 (15oz) can hominy or white corn
-1 envelope of taco seasoning
-1 (4.5oz) can of chopped green chilies
-1 (10 3/4) can condensed cream of chicken soup
-1 (14oz) can chicken broth
-1/2 cup or small container of sour cream (I used light)

Place chicken in a 4 quart (mine is a 6 quart) slow cooker. Top with beans and corn.  In a medium bowl, combine taco seasoning, chilies, condensed soup and chicken broth.  Pour over top of ingredients in the crock pot.  Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, I cooked mine for 9.  Before serving, stir to break up chicken (I used a fork) and then stir in the sour cream.  You can top it with green onions and cheese, but honestly it didn't need it.  Currently living off the delicious leftovers!

A Must See....

I saw Lone Survivor, the movie Sunday and can say it does the book, story and brave men justice.  I am a huge supporter of the military with multiple family members either having served or currently serving our great country.  The book, "The Lone Survivor" by Marcus Luttrell made me laugh and cry, the movie did the exact same thing.  I might have cried more in the movie, due to the fact that I knew the story and because of how real and amazing the actors were.  This is a must see movie that should definitely be nominated for multiple awards for the actors, director and the story.  The actors did an outstanding job of portraying their characters, and delivering a depth of brotherly love between one another.  The movie is based on a true story and will definitely punch you in the gut with the story and continue to stay with you days after.  I look forward to seeing Marcus Luttrell speak during his Patriot Tour.

Happy Weekend

Happy Weekend....finally!  I swear this was the longest week ever, probably because it was my first full week back!  I'm excited to stay in town, catch up with friends and just relax this weekend.  I'm loving Kacey Musgraves, "Follow Your Arrow."  Everyone has their own individual path in life and this song is exactly what everyone should live by.  Have a great weekend!!!

Chocolate Pecan Pie

The title of this post should make your mouth start watering right away!  For Christmas Eve dinner (I know, late posting), which I cook for both sets of grandparents and my parents, I decided to try a new recipe my friend Kristen gave me.  Voila, chocolate pecan pie that will make you whimper and is even better leftover.  Mama Jill, Big Pappy and I split the last of it by the fire pit with glasses of wine....helloooo delectable!

Not the most glamorous of pics, but delicious!!

Chocolate Pecan Pie

-I cheated and used a store bought pie crust
-3 large eggs
-3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
-2/3 cup light corn syrup
-1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-1/2 teaspoon salt
-2 tablespoons melted butter
-1 2/3 cups toasted pecans, coarsely chopped (toast 7-10 minutes on 375 degrees)
-3/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chips (I was very generous!)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees and position oven rack to the center of the oven.  In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, brown sugar, syrup, vanilla, salt and melted butter.  Stir in the pecans and the chocolate chips, then place the filling into the pie shell.  Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the filling puffs up slightly but still feels a bit jiggly and moist in the center.  It took Mama Jill's oven about 33 minutes.  I made homemade whip cream and served on top.  Super easy and super delish!

The Highway

Happy Friday!  I'm headed to Greensboro to hang out with the parents before they depart on their adventurous trip abroad, let's face it my mama and I talk every day and the separation is looming over me, haha!  My cousin is also having a Christmas tree bon fire party, so I will get to see a little bit of everyone.  Mostly I'm excited to have a forced relaxing weekend since I've been hacking a lung with this cold I have.  So in honor of my travels, since I feel like all I do is road trips, here is Holly Williams, "The Highway."

P.S. one of my New Year's Resolutions may need to be to stay home more often!

The Brave Collection

My dear friend Megan gave me this bracelet for Christmas.  She knows me well in that I love bracelets, but even more I love bracelets that symbolize and support a cause.  This bracelet was handmade in Cambodia, and created a job opportunity for a local artisan.  The bracelet says "Brave" in Khmer and is a token of freedom against human trafficking.  Human Trafficking is an alarming issue not only in the world but in the United States, it is something the Junior League is focusing on nation wide.  The entire collection is worth checking out!
