New Year 2014

Image Via Inslee

The Holidays were a whirlwind, I promise to post pictures sometime soon.  Tonight is New Years Eve and one of my biggest resolutions for the new year is to limit time around negative people.  There are some people in our lives that we have to be around aka family.  I am that person who strives above and beyond to make everything perfect, it has taken me a really long time to realize that I cannot and will never be perfect.  Negativity and people who try to bring you down really affect me, simply because I don't understand that thought process.  I am an incredibly positive person and always strive to be happy in whatever circumstance, with that being said negativity really affects me.  I am pretty sensitive to negativity that comes my way, but specifically when it is targeted at me to make me feel bad about myself.  My goal for the new year is to severely limit my time around any and all negativity, because after all life is way to short to be brought down by others.  So cheers to the new year, may 2014 bring you nothing but positive thoughts and time with friends and loved ones.

Merry Christmas

Well friends, I'm off to Greensboro to spend Christmas with the fam.  My car is literally overflowing, mama Jill is sooo demanding, I've done most of her Christmas shopping, so half the stuff in my car isn't really mine. I'm excited to start cooking all my dishes and sweet tea I've signed up for and nights by the fire pit with a delish glass of red wine.  I can't wait to celebrate my nephew's first Christmas and see all my extended family (all 60 of us will be together at my grandparents Christmas day).

I have a lot to be thankful for this Christmas season, I am especially thankful for everyone in our military who can't be with their loved ones on Christmas.  Thank you for what you do for our great country and the sacrifices you and your family make.  Everyone should take a moment to find something they are thankful for.  I will be ringing the Salvation Army bell on Christmas Eve (a long time tradition with my dad), it is the perfect way to remember the meaning of Christmas and giving!

I hope everyone has the most wonderful, sparkly holiday!  I'm taking the rest of the week to chill and just be, so see you sometime after the Christmas week!  Enjoy an all time favorite Christmas song of mine Judy Garland, "Have Yourself a Merry Christmas."

River Water

Welcome to the weekend before Christmas!  I for one am taking the time to relax before all the crazy mayhem of seeing everyone, dancing, drinking, eating and talking over one another, at least that's what happens at our house.  Here is Moon Taxi, a great band out of Nashville called "River Water."  Enjoy, I hope everyone is done with Christmas shopping!!!

Sweet Friday

Happy Friday friends!  I am so excited for the weekend, Christmas parties, sleeping in, wrapping presents and just enjoying the simple things.  I get to have lunch today with my cousin Kellie who just finished her first year in nursing school!  I am all about celebrating this weekend, I found out Thursday that I got into the Executive Training program, which means a promotion for 2014.  Very Excited!  Have a wonderful weekend!

A Christmas Wedding

Last weekend was quite the whirlwind.  I went to Greensboro Friday for a bridesmaid luncheon at the Proximity Hotel to celebrate my best friend Kippy's wedding weekend.  From there it was a day of getting everything done, checking her into the hotel and making sure we secured the dress.  The rehearsal went off without a hitch even though we were poor listeners and ready to get our party on.  Kippy, Honor and I decided to make a pit stop at the Country Club to see the most gorgeous winter wonderland decorations....so sad I didn't take pics and of course a glass of champagne to toast how fabulous her wedding was going to be.  Her rehearsal dinner and party was all greek since Mike (groom) is greek-think greek food, greek band, greek dancing and they even spoke greek.  We all partook in the greek dancing, even though I had no idea how to do it, hello they failed to teach us that in Cotillion.  Saturday began bright and early with a stop at Biscuitville so we could start the day off strong.  We began the beautification process at the O. Henry hotel, the perfect spot for our hair and makeup fairy godmother Carla to make us beautiful!  Kippy was a stunning bride, the hair, the makeup and that dress....ooohhhh lalala!  Her wedding was at 5pm at Phillips Chapel, the bridesmaids sang, "Going to the Chapel" really loud with the doors closed (for more acoustics) before we began our walk down the aisle, adding a little something special.  It was a beautiful ceremony, short and sweet with all the right parts of laughter and meaningful moments.  The reception was at the Country Club, to say we ran for cocktails is an understatement.  Honor and I almost knocked down a few people to get our cocktails, thank goodness no one was hurt!  The bridesmaids brought the party, we literally danced to EVERY song the band played and the music they played when people began to sit down.  It was a wonderful night of dancing, being twirled and dipped on the dance floor....hey magical!!  I ended the night with my parents, my lovely friend Megan and her hubby aka my other brother Andrew by the fire pit in my parents back yard.  Mama Jill saved us all by making us grilled cheese sandwiches-this is just one of the many reasons why we all love Mama Jill so much!  It was a wonderful, exhausting weekend!  Thank the good Lord for Krispy Kreme doughnuts and more biscuitville on Sunday morning.....someone was a little over served....wink wink!  To top it all off I got to see my nephew M3 on Sunday before I headed back to Charlotte.

A Christmas Wedding

Sorry for the MIA post this week-to say it's been cray cray is an understatement.  I had three interviews yesterday, fingers crossed and completely booked myself for the rest of the week like an idiot!
My best friend Kippy is getting married this weekend!  We have known each other since we were 3 years old and used to dance at Miss Cathy's to multiple Mariah Carey songs.  This is for you my friend and sister, may your Christmas wedding be all that you wished for and more!  I love you!!

Happenings

Image Via

This is how I felt on Saturday.  After a whirlwind holiday that started on Wednesday with a trip to Greensboro to decorate our family Christmas tree and make gallons of sweet tea for our lunch the next day, I was already tired after the short work week.  Thursday was filled with trying to master a picture for our Christmas card with my dad making funny faces and doing weird things with his arms to make M3 smile/laugh, he was probably laughing at how odd Big Pappy looked waving his arms and randomly singing songs, but it did the trick and we now have a Christmas card working through the presses.  We had Thanksgiving lunch at my grandparents and it was the perfect time to catch up with all my cousins and extended family.  Sadly, it had to be cut short, I had to be back in Charlotte to work a 7-12 shift at corporate to make sure all our "Black Friday" now Thanksgiving deals rang correctly.....total bummer, but that did mean I didn't work Friday!  Friday I met the rents at the beach, thank goodness for my ipod, new Chanel sunnies that I got in the Cayman's and the prospect of the beach or I probably wouldn't have made it....hey tired!  The weekend was great and relaxing, but of course Mama Jill put me to work, we shopped online and hit a bunch of deals, hey Tory Burch, Kate Spade and JCrew to name a few of the fab deals we scored!  We have now crossed off part of our Christmas list!  I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!  December is already a whirlwind,  I'm strapping on my gold sparkly Kate Spade's, because this month is booked solid.
